i want to set up cctv for my home which i can recorded to my pc for future viewing and hopefully evidence!! anyone know what i need and where to get what i need??

The same applies but if used outdoors and you intend recording the CCTV footage all sorts of laws apply - you must put signs up informing people that CCTV is in operation and they are being recorded - particularly if the cameras record off your own property.

It will use up far too much disk space to record 24 hours a day.

Surely you can get motion sensors that only record when some activity takes place in front of the camera.

I am 99% certain that images recorded to a pc hard drive can not be used as forensic evidence because the images can be manipulated and edited.

Yes you can buy wireless cameras - they are very heavy on batteries and can be affected by weather and atmospheric conditions.

The recording devices I linked to only allow your pc hard drive to record - they do not have hard drives of their own.

You can buy dedicated recorders that hook up to your cctv cameras and record the footage - they are like dvd recorders without the tv tuners.

If you live near Maplin's go and have a look. Wickes has low cost cctv packages but I am not sure if they are any good.
