I am having trouble figuring out which cables I need to buy in order to view my laptop through the TV. I am trying to buy this cable as a present however I keep getting confused with all the technological jargon, VGI, DVI-D, HDMI, S-Video and so forth.
The laptop is a Apple Mac(Book I think? It's white and has 'G Live' on the front) and the TV is a LCD (not sure of the model, sorry!) I have bought a TV Out to S-Video cable however further investigations are leading me to believe I need to buy a HMDI to DVI cable?? But now I'm not sure.

Can anybody help as I want to buy this as a gift but I have no idea what I'm looking for. Many thanks to all who can decipher my ramblings!!

Well, are you sure it's a macbook? I have no idea what G Live is.

If it's white, does it have a webcam just above the screen? If so, it'll be a macbook.

The macbook has a miniDVI port. So you need miniDVI to something cable.

This something depends on the TV. If the TV has a S-video port, then get a miniDVI--S-video cable. Else it almost certainly has regular phono connections for video.

If the TV has DVI then that's better, and S-video is better than phono. Don't get HDMI.
