Hi- I wonder if anyone could help. Is it normal for an internet site to ask for date of birth, when paying for something, as well as the normal details like address, card details etc. It's just that I've never known it before and I'm a bit wary of doing so because of all the id frauds etc. I thought someone on here would know for certain.
Thanks.

No, it isn't.

What site are you shopping on?
No, I've never been asked for date of birth. Would be quite wary of anyone who asked for this either online or otherwise.

The link doesn't work for me.

Was you buying a product that requires the buyer to be over 18 (or 16) for legal reasons?

Hi they may be using the new soon to be common place , "3d secure" ,
which will actually require you to register a credit card prior to any purchases online in the future.requiring the entry of a user defined pin number link at

I think it looks cheap & fake and it won't work properly for me, I would go elsewhere for your ds lite

Thanks for all your help. I think I'll give it a miss.
I wouldn't trust them! And as somebody posted, padlocks on the pictures do not mean anything.

I saw Watchdog the other day and they said anyone can set up a website and start selling things. There is nobody in this country that governs it. There are loads of dodgy website that pretend to sell things and take the money but do not send the goods.
Not quite sure of that one mumof3 angels but trust your instinks if it does not seem right dont do it.

The only time I have been asked my dob is when you phone up your credit card company or debit card company I have never heard of them asking for it when you pay for something.

And to be honest the more that I think about this as I am typing the more I think that it is a scam.

So my advise is stay clear.
Jesus there were no answers on this one when I just posted whats happening on the ab today.
Films have age ratings, so in this case the company would have to ask your date of birth for legal reasons.

On the internet, never use a debit card, only a credit card .

This is a fraudulent website . It is a copy of this genuine website-
