Buying a new tv

If im sat say quarter or half a metre away from where the tv would be is there a general rule of thumb regarding which size tv to get,

I dont know, but 25-50 centimeters is very close, I suspect you could get away with a small one
Richard.....the general rule for an lcd/plasma screen tv is 3 to 5 times the screen size for optimum viewing.........of course for a PC you always sit closer
hey if its pc then i have a 24 inch widescreen and sit half a metre away, but if its a tv in the living room then really you need to sit at least 3/4 metres away especially if your screen is 36 inches or above.

Im looking at getting something about 22 screen size, nothing much too big
