Hi

Recently my IE has had pop ups apearing whilst i am online. They arealways related to the website i am browsing. I know it sounds like malware I have tried using my CA anti virus pack, but it says my machine is clean, as does Windows Defender, and i have no idea where or what is causing it.

I am running XP. And my popup blocker is set to High as is my firewall.

If anyone has any ideas where the files causing this may be, or how i can stop this problem please let me know! If you want further details please ask. Ryan

if they always relate to the website you are browsing .... they sound like popups ... not malware...
popups about a site you aren't browsing .... now that's what I call malware!

if internet explorer ... 7 has a popup blocker
google toolbar has one
http://toolbar.google.com/T4/intl/en-GB/index_ pack.html?utm_source=en_GB-et-more&utm_medium= et&utm_campaign=en_GB&tbbrand=GZEZ

check the popup properties in your existing defences and make sure the sites in question arn't in your allow list.

if it's porn .... does something always pop up when you look?

It is not popups as such, its always a new window. its normally roughly related to the site im on, e.g. facebook will bring a dating site etc. My popup blocker is set to block, so if you have any other ideas on what to look for that would be great.

As i have stated, the POP Up Blocker is on. These pages are not from the websites visited, but they still appear. Any ideas?
Your Pop-Up Blocker may be on, but what filter level settings have you set? Set them to 'High' (Go to Tools->Pop-Up Blocker->Pop-Up Blocker Settings)

Already set to high.

I just need ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks for trying with all these answers, its great, but i am a Web Designer so the usual stuff has already been attempted.

Any other suggestions would be great though!
Stop using IE and use Mozilla Firefox.
I don't know a thing about puters, but I love Mozilla Firefox pop-up blocker.
