Connect laptop to television

What cable/s do I need to connect my Dell Inspiron Laptop to my Samsung television? Am I right in assuming that I just need one cable and that all laptops have the same plug port (or whatever it is called!). Many thanks for the help, I just want to be able to play my photos onto my telly, thanks

There's no single standard connection, but my Dell Inspiron connects to my TV with an S-video lead. Check if you have a socket on both the laptop and the TV that look like this http://upload.wikimed...6b/S.video.socket.png
and get yourself an s-video to s-video lead.
