Bt Broadband disconnects!

I am getting sooo annoyed with my Broadband! It disconnects me every so often! Also each time it does that, my computer thinks I'm still connected so won't let me reconnect and I have to restart the computer each time! Argh! Help! What can I do?!

Thats a problem with the broadband modem. Try uninstalling the drivers and re installing. Dont for forget to use the disk that came with it and install the modem software as well. (you dont really need the BT browser if you dont want it. Its built on Internet Explorer 6 anyway).

Mine is playing up also, but within 30 seconds of connection the only thing that remains connected is my limewire connection, and I can still download music. Everything else just drops..internet explorer, mozilla firefox, msn messenger etc. My computer is clean from viruses, spware etc but when I rang BT they said to re-install windows. Their answer to everything is re-installing windows. It is really frustrating cos in work I cant access msn messenger and I use that quite a lot at home.

Switch to NTL? unless anyone knows a reason not to. Been on for 2 years - never any problems.

After a clean up of a virus and spyware, some files got deleted so I've reinstalled Windows XP. Most things work better, but Windows Messenger and MSN & Yahoo Messengers keep booting me. I've allowed them access in ZoneAlarm. Never had problems before, so I would put it down to BT (I have Tiscali ADSL).

If you have the dreadful Alcatel USB Speedtouch ADSL modem - the green frog - I would strongly recommend ditching it. I had exactly the same problem until I purchased my own modem. From then onwards I had zero problems/disconnects. This despite reloading windows, updating drivers etc etc.
