Oh wow how jealous am I over Upstairs Downstairs. "Rose" is in it, I gather? Anybody else from the old cast? What's the story, can't be set at the Bellamy household anymore, or has James or Elizabeth moved in as head of the family? Doesn't it feel a little bit sad watching it, no Hudson, no Mrs Bridges... how have they managed to work past that risk? We kept our emails when NTL were taken over by Virgin Robinia . Although we were with BT previously to that and had to change when we went to NTl if that makes sense:)
Dull grey day and I ache all over ..
Yes Kit .Rose is in it .It is at 165 Eaton Place .An attache( to the FO) and his wife move in, renovate it and they go to an agency for staff .The person running the agency is Rose .She supplies the staff and then they ask her to go and be their housekeeper . It was quite moving when she came down the stairs and the camera honed in on her hand and it changed from a workworn one into the smooth hand of a young woman .
Anne Reid plays the cook .She's brilliant at dotty old dames .The butler though is just as stuffy as Mr Hudson .
It's not the quite the same .It's set in the 1930's .George V has just died and we are on the path to war .I've only seen episode 1 and am going to catch up later .

Yes that's very interesting, the address I want to keep is tiscali. I use it for my account here, utility, phone & shopping etc so it'll be a nuisance to have to change. I know banks don't send emails but do we give them our addresses when we start internet banking? I can't remember. I think I'll be moving to BT, I already have my landline from them. I'd considered Virgin but I don't want TV, I don't watch a lot, and I do want unlimited daytime phone calls for weekdays not just weekend.

Well don't worry Sweedie, owing to cost cutting exercises there'll be woolly pets instead of cardies next year.... isn't this the sweetest thing?

Oh WOW, I just watched BBC news! (Elton John is now a Dad, they said.) Ha ha ha they've got a channel coming soon called Blighty, Neti:) However, I can only get BBC News to work, not the other BBC channels. Don't they broadcast in the afternoon? Upstairs Downstairs is on BBC1 Kit .I've just watched the second episode .It's brilliant .
Anne Reid btw was in Ladies of Letters .Superb character actress .She was Valerie Barlow years ago in Corrie and met her demise with a faulty hairdrier .
I was going to say the same as Neti .It's bound to be out on DVD soon and I can send it to you .
If you have managed though to download the gubbins Neti gave you,you can watch it on BBC Iplayer .

Evening all. Just got a miserable 160 on the diving game Kit. I shall be going back for another go.
I'm a bit confused about all your email address problems. I have 5 and can use any of them. Am I being a bit thick or have I got it wrong. I'm on Virgin phone and broadband but not TV and don't use Virgin email address.
I love Gertie. I wish i was good at Handicrafts. I can knit and crochet basics but nothing intricate.

If you have got an email addy that ends with your suppliers suffix, eg @btinternet.com or @tesco.net, you will lose it if you leave the supplier. if not, you can keep it.

Ha ha Shaney I bought my television set USED in 1989, it doesn't know even what a video is, much less a DVD... my nephew is just waiting for it to explode in my face... but thanks so very much anyways. BBC1 works for me on the Jake site right now (it didn't before) so I'm very excited to see if it does later tonight as well. The sound is slightly out of sync but still, it will be fantastic if I can see it all:)
