At the risk of being banned, I will tell you a true story. We first went online with one of the biggest companies - you know the one, the ad used to show a lady with a weird dress as the embodiment of their service. We had some access problems with them and decided to switch and it was absolute hell trying to get them off our line. At first, when I phoned them up to complain, I got an offer of reduced price deals to re sign, then they said that there was nothing that they could do, they had sent the untag rerquest to BT who were dragging their feet. Finally I phoned again and asked for their business address for the receipt of a solicitors letter and magically the line was untagged that day! Moral, don't just ask them to untag the line and think it will be done, keep checking and chasing, I would also suggest that unless you are absolutely sure that you will re sign to your current ISP, you should make it clear that you will not be so they don't keep your line tagged "just in case" This is becuse when we first tried to cancel, we were told that charges would be suspended but they would hold our account open for 30 days in case we changed our minds!!
not very techy but I hope this helps
