Hi. My pal's recently bought a laptop. She's paying a so-called IT expert to come round every week to help her with any queries but she's struggling to keep up with his tekky brain! She's OK with email and Word and so on, but sometimes needs help understanding how to do stuff. Can anyone recommend a website for beginners - in SIMPLE and concise language - where she can type in a query and get an understandable reply? Thanks for any suggestions. She can't afford to keep on forking out for this bloke to come round, and he doesn't seem to appreciate just how little computer-speak she grasps (I find this with many IT people so I can sympathise).

Several beginner articles here, I would also recommend the books

http://www.dummies.com/

Although it's an american site the books should be available from all decent UK boook shops

(That's assuming they have windows 7 on the laptop)
The 'Dummies' books are good, check your local library, they often have them.
a lot of good information can be obtained from this site

http://www.pcdon.com/

It also offers a lot of old type music downloads.
Here's another one to search for answers.

Get yourself a Focus training CD .. Shows you how, in animated form, and interactive tests, plus section exams. Good stuff.
I use the windows 7/upgrade/hints and tips etc 'in easy steps' books-dead cheap on Amazon and very helpful. As it says,it does walk you through things step by step and little footnotes too.I love mine!
