can i use an o2 dongle in a 7" laptop...?

it says a 3G one is ok and has a setting for that...but i dont have a 3g one...

trouble is also i cant get online to install any software for this, an it doenst ''recognise'' it when you plug it in...

also it wont recognise my virgin media broadbadn cable...is this becasue its mentione adsl? or can i install it another way

any ideas?
