I thought I would make this a sticky as most of my other posts have been lost in the ether.
Some of you may be getting warnings from your antivirus software or browsers saying that The AnswerBank is hosting malware. I can assure you that everything here is safe and if you browse the site in Internet Explorer you should have no problems.
We are currently in the process of fixing the Firefox browsing issues and normal service should be resumed at some point today.
So, stay calm and don't panic! Just pour yourself a cuppa while I get the Cat O' Nine Tails out to make sure the technical team get these issues fixed.
Realistically, you could continue using Firefox to browse everything else you normally would, whether thats email, YouTube, Facebook etc. If you don't want to have to click "ignore this message" on the attack page warning you get in Firefox, just load up IE and use that to log into AB for now. It will have no effect on anything on the AnswerBank.
neti, you've probably still got IE somewhere on your computer , maybe on the desktop or the start menu - just click on it and use it in the normal way. You can have as many browsers as you want - IE, Firefox, Chrome etc - they shouldn't get in each other's way,and you can even have each one open in a different window at the same time..
I was just reading the Ed's post and half way through got a virus warning using Internet Explorer!
Had several yesterday. Just quarantined them...is that the right thing to do? I never know.
neti,
I have IE as well as F/Fox and can switch to one or the other anytime.
Go to start and check all programmes and you should find it, then click and you have it.
The problem I used to have with IE and Answerbank was that roughly 50% of the time I clicked on a thread I would get the message, "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close". I don't get this with Firefox.
Glad to read this Ed. thank you. I'm surprised though a Firefox browsing issue seems to be something to do with it, not that that I like Firefox - I don't, it has too many add-ons, plug-ins, updates, etc. I use it though simply for its Adblock feature - pity that I.E doesn't have something similar.
