i put a cd into my laptop and when it wouldnt play i opened the drawer only to find it empty.i guess i stupidly didnt click it into place properly and now its gone inside the laptop.i turned it on its side and shook it very gently hoping it would come out but no luck.any advice would be appreciated.ie is it possible to remove the drawer to get it out?
Anyhow.... no you can't remove the drawer, can you see the CD at all with the drawer open? if so try using some tweezers (sp?) if not then it will probably need the drive removed and somebody trying to get the top off the drive.
Not saying that you're as silly as me but I've in the past tried to remove a CD/DVD from the desktop and found the drawer empty, the disk was in the other drive (°o°)
I've just looked in mine and the missus' drives and there is no way one could even purposely get a disk to slide down the back. What is the make/serial of your optical drive?
this happened to us a few months ago, don't panic, the solution is easy and ours was solved in about 3 minutes, with no external (i.e pc world and commercial interests) help, problem is we cannot remember how, but we found the answer on the internet.
as i said in my post i dont think i clicked it into place properly so when i shut the drawer it pushed it intside,i did switch it off before i tried to shake it(very gently)i cant see it at all and have no idea what the serial number is.looks like a trip to the repair shop then but thanks for your replies
