I have been sent an Email telling me my security is due for renewal and they can't do it automatically because they only have outdated card informaton. My card changed type ( Maestro to Visa) in October and I have put in this information, plus the new expiry date, but when I put in the last 4 numbers across the front - which I assume is my card number bit they want- it keeps coming up in red as invalid credit card number. ot refuses to alow me to update. Any suggestions please? ( Before I am overrun with viruses!!)
Not sure about the problem with your card number but it normally works out cheaper to buy it from the shops when on offer than through Norton. Whsmith has the internet security 2011 performance pack for about £35 at the moment
Thank you all.I had Norton three years ago which came in package with the computer, so just went along with renewals.Maybe that is not sensible. How do I know whether genuine or not, squarebear?Think so! Tried to ring Symantech helpline but kept on hold with ghastly music " to speak to an engineer" and gave up after 5 minutes. ( N0 stamina,me!)
If you're not sure what's genuine and whats not, how about buying somehting from Amazon flicrat? Saves you going to the high street and it'll be with you in a day or two and you can then load as a disc.
Don't suppose you are a Barclays customer - they get Kaspersky full suite free (if they use internet banking). Or, there's all the free security software available from here, there, everywhere.
Norton used to be crap a couple of years ago but symantec got their act together and rewrote it and it's now considered to be in the top 3 certainly. anyone who states norton is rubbish doesn't stay up to date with developments in the AV scene.
Norton is much better than AOG as an anti virus solution.
bedknobs, I think the Email was because of the problem with the card. It HAD popped up last week and I assumed would go through as usual, having forgotten I had changed my card. I confess I have never bought anything on line, but maybe I should start! Are you all serious about AOG or is it a joke,as chuckfickens seems to suggest?
We have no problems at all with Norton, I know others don't like it but we are very happy with it. I'm wondering (re your card) if they are wanting the security number off the back (not the front) which is 3 numbers - this is often requested on-line as confirmation that you have the card with you. I'd try again if I were you.
