I'm not sure if any one can help. We went to Bowness on Windermere on Saturday 20 August and were amazed to see an Indian pipe and drum band marching through the town I asked one of the marshals who said that th come every year to commerate a saint. Does anyone know any more

There is a Saint Martin's church in Bowness. Perhaps is to do with him.

Thank you scotman and boxtops - yes that was it It was an absolutely wonderful spectacle and we came upon it quite unexpectedly. The were in orange robes - not highland dress and the playing was wonderful
It sounds like a great experience - and as you say, most unexpected!
No, but I saw "The Krays" at the cinema there once when it was too rainly to go fell walking !
