I need to renew my passport before I plan next summer's holiday. Ive looked online but dont trust any of the sites that pop up. Do I go to the post office? Also, in the last ten years I have changed a lot. Will I need a new photo too? Who decides?

you need to send off 2 "recent" photos for the renewal
if you are wary, you can fill in the form online, then they send it to you, pre filled with your info http://www.direct.gov...ourpassport/DG_174097
You don`t need any internet sites. Just go and get a form from the post office. The forms are fairly self-explanatory. Yes, you will need a new photo. I got my last one from a photo booth. They`re passport compatible.
or if you dont want to fill detail in online, just get them to send the form https://forms.direct....nt_to_you_in_the_post
Renewed mine recently. Form from Post Office, 2 passport photos and the form very easily filled in. Got PO to check it over and send it off for me with old passport. New one back in a week.
The Post Office can supply you with Passport Renewal Forms.
If you feel confident after filling them in that you have got them right, send them off to the passport office with two photos and the fee and bobs your uncle. If you are less confident, the Post Office will check them for you and send them off for a fee of ( I think) £8.50.

thanks a lot, I feel better now.
Go to the post office, they'll give you a pack - you can get the photos done in a booth, then they will check it for you.

Depending on where you live, you can fasttrack your renewal - then the PO take the photo too. OH did that as he needs his passport for work - he got it back in five days.

The direct.gov site is the official passport site, don't go to anywhere else.
Post Office is the quickest way.
