I wear a body belt containing all my tickets, credit cards, money and passport.
I wear this day and night, especially if the hotel does not have a safe in the room. Sometimes when I walk about, I keep my keys inside my closed hand with one of the rings round a finger, so that if I have to, I can smack someone in the face with a bunch of keys.

Lorenzino, I did go to a war zone. In 2001 I went to sulaymania in Kurdistan, it's a long story why so I won't go into it now. This was during the Iraq war and Saddam was still in power.Anyway we decided to go for a picnic one afternoon and we had just got everything laid out when my sister pointed out an unexploded bomb. We could not get out of there fast enough ,but still we tiptoed in case we disturbed anything. We left the food where it was.

I went there be cause my sister married a Kurdish man and went to live in Kurdistan. She could'nt settle there so her husband asked me to go and stay for a few months. This took a lot of arranging and I think quite a few bribes , even journalists were not allowed in then.
It was quite safe , the Americans were protecting Kurdistan. We never went anywhere without an armed guard.I know that this is hard to believe but I even went out with the Mines Awareness group to a site and was invited to press the detonator to blow up bombs which the teams had discovered that day. Not bad for an ordinary pensioner from Yorkshire.
