Going later this year, do I need malaria tablets as I am very prone to getting bitten and react badly. What other things do I need ( vaccines and so on)?

I didn't take malaria tablets or having any vaccinations when I went to Jamaica. I just had a quick look and see that they are not recommended either.

I've been to Jamaica numerous times and have never encountered any mosquitoes. Mind you, if you were to travel off the beaten path, the Blue Mountains in the interior for example, you might come across them.

As I read it, it says that there's no threat of malaria and the only vaccinations you would normally need are those which most Brits have anyway (including ensuring that your anti-Tetanus jabs are up to date). However you should still do your best to avoid mosquito bites, due to the risk of contracting Dengue fever (for which there's no vaccination available).

They have the zika virus though so make sure you wear repellent. The zika mozzies bite during the day BTW

The idea is that you keep your money secreted about your person and have a little bit of 'mugging money' in your bag so that you can hand it over if push comes to shove. A well known trick when in Brazil. To be fair though I have never had to hand over my mugging money and I have met some lovely people in that part of the world. It`s a shame to tar everybody with the same brush as most people are decent.

Daughter's friend is just back from Jamaica and she did not take malaria tablets or have any vaccinations.

Mosquitoes are plenty full in Jamaica, but whether you are prone to being bitten is another thing. Take plenty of repellent.
Malaria injections are not needed.
As Stuey says, Rick's Cafe is a must along with Dunns River Falls.
