Forget F1, this is the real thing and I wish I was there. Is anybody either there, or going?

A great race of endurance. I’ve driven down the Mulsanne straight, and owned a Moto Guzzi Le Mans the nearest thing. Never been to the actual race.

malagabob; It's many years since I was there, then it was Ferrari s battling through the night with Matras (remember them?) and of course you have several races going on simultaneously in the different categories.

The great thing about Le Mans is that you never give up, because even if your engine fails the guy's engines still out there might fail too and I saw them disassembling and rebuilding a gearbox at 4 in the morning with a guy holding a mike observing it close up and describing to the surrounding crowd of petrol-heads each stage of the operation.

Darkness has no effect on the speed either, the lap record was broken during the night when I was there.

I went there back in the 80s when Jaguar were making a comeback.

Standing on that famous bridge over the Mulsanne straight at three o'clock in the morning, cars doing well over 200mph
Burgers and rock music,
Back to the sleeping bag,
Constantly being woken up by the noises

I`m sure its a great event but my attention span doesnt last that long.

Builder; Have I mentioned Camaros before? I never owned one myself but three of us drove a friend's overnight from Lexington/ Kentucky to Manhattan/ New York, rotating into the driver's seat at every fuel or food stop.
Those too were the good old days!
