I wouldn't fancy arriving on holiday in Italy right now. Other places also affected.
Would you?

Compared to the appalling weather in the UK at the moment, I`d be up for it. Hottest I experienced was nearly 50 C in Doha. I could feel it burning my eyeballs.
When I find myself having to turn on the central heating in mid 'summer' I'd take my chances with the heat abroad for a week or two.
We're going to Costa del Sol in 10 days time. When I looked at long range weather forecast, it's going to be an average of about 30C.
I know some inland places in Spain will be much higher.
I can happily bear 30c :-)
I was in Venice one July. Never again. Way too hot. No shade to be had.
My wife is going in late September so it will be much cooler.

David. Wonder if it was the same July as I was in Lido de Jesolo? Sand was so hot I could barely walk on it. Some local elderly ladies were sitting against a wall with their lower body/legs covered in this hot sand up to waist level - said it was good for arthritis!

40'C is not uncommon, go to bed between 1400-1800 - and then bed at night later

Cats start panting > 40'C if you dont have a theromometer available
My friends live in Italy but they're (very wisely) in Edinburgh at the moment.

I don't mind high temperatures unless they're accompanied by humidity. I was in Madrid in August a few years ago, where temperatures peaked at 38C each day, and I loved it because it was dry heat. (Cafés and bars all had misting devices on their terraces, trying to increase the amount of moisture in the air). I then returned to the UK, where the temperature was only 26C but with high humidity, and absolutely hated it.
We’ve just returned from Costa del Sol. The heat, high 30s and humidity high 90s made it unbearable to even go for a stroll.
