I am currently planning a trip around Asia that will take me through Thailand, China, Mongolia and then onto Russia. However when it comes to applying for visas I will not be living in the UK, i will be in New Zealand. Does anyone have any advice as to how I should go about applying for visas if I'm not resident in the UK at the time.

Thanks

You will need to go to relevant embassies. Be aware that some visas take up to a week to obtain. I had to get a visa for India while in Sri Lanka and it took 5 days.

Some visas can be obtained at the relevant borders (eg Thailand - if you're a UK passport holder you just need a stamp not a full-on visa)
