What European city is cheap for eating, drinking etc?

Prague is excellent for cheap eating and drinking. You can get a pint of lager for 4pence!! Plus it's all good quality, make sure you don't wander down any back streets though!! Also, never travel to Prague alone, especially if you are female. My travel agent advised me this because apparently they have a maffia over there who kidnap women! Not sure how true this is though! Maybe you can look into it.

Unfortunately Pragues the one place Im not allowed to go! My other half is going away for a lads weekend, so my sister and I want to go away fror a girly weekend at the same time and have been told under no uncertain terms are we also allowed to be in Prague! Thanks for your help anyway. x

Krakow is pretty cheap, or Gdansk - lots of restaurants, bars and nightlife in both.

Beer is about �1.20 per pint (or the nearest equivilent) a three course meal plus drinks is about �10.00-�20.00 average

Riga is atttractive, popular and cheap.

Ryanair fly from Stansted & Liverpool. As a guide to flight prices, I've just checked what they're currently offering for a departure on Friday 1 December with a return on Monday 4 December. The prices are �9.99 out and �0.01 return (+ taxes and charges).

The airport is only 7km from the city centre. A taxi only costs about �4.

I went to Riga last xmas and believe me I did not find beer at 35p for a pint. Food you can get for about 1.50 only if you stick with the communist era cafeteria type of places and I only saw one of those in the old town. Realistically, a pint of local stuff will be about 1 pound 25, or 2 pounds for foreign stuff like Heineken. Dont kid yourself, its cheap but not THAT cheap.

Budapest in Hungary is quite cheap. The food is nice and beer reasonable but try and go in the spring as it gets really cold and quiet out of season. Its a lovely city with so much to see, I would recommend 3-4 days.
