I am off to Ibiza in May and need to know if i can use my Visa Electron debit card to withdraw money from cash machines over there.. my bank was very non-committal when i asked them and wouldnt give me a direct answer!
just wondered if anyone had been and used their card without any trouble? thanks

i have Visa Delta and can use it anywhere that shows the Visa sign but a lady here at work says she could not use her because it was Electron. I can only take her word for it, not a personal experience.
for some reasons, electron cards are not accepted in a lot of countries, get a new visa delta one from the bank before you go

thanks guys
Also remember that if it does work ,along with the charges that the bank over there will charge you,you may also get inflated exchange rates AND your bank ,depending on who it is,may charge you a fee for EACH transaction ,normally around 1.50 !!
You could transfer your cash to an American Express Travellers Cheque card. You use it like a debit card but it has the relevant currency loaded onto it. You are charged for using an ATM but only what you would be if you used your electron around 1.50/3.00. We use the Maex card in France and have only had one place where they didn't accept it and that was a restaurant
Electron cards aren't very usable in the UK never mind Malta lol
