Claim for theft

Has anyone been successful in claiming on their travel insurance despite NOT having a police report. I had a bag stolen in Cyprus and was pretty much left in limbo by the police over there and because i was flying back that night, i was unable to return for a 3rd time to the police station to see the ONE policeman who dealt with thefts etc. I had my bag stolen which contained only minor things except my expensive camera that id got as a birthday present. Im gutted but wanted to know if anyone has successfully claimed without a police report. Natwest have said they will send me a claim form so its a case of waiting for their decision.

Please help.
