Cat weeing

My 3 year old male cat has just started weeing in places in the house. He's always been really good at using his litter tray, but more often than has gone outside anyway. He's recently also been having a few fights with a cat in the neighbourhood and someone has told me that he could be marking his territory to keep this new cat out of HIS house. Is there anything I can do to stop him?

how old is the cat?has he been neutered?when they get to 6mnths old they can be neutered or even if done late it may stop him as tom cats do like to leave their scent about! when you clean up his wee use washing powder and water to neutralise the scent so he doesnt go in that place again.hope this helps x

silly me it says your cat is 3 yrs old!! neutering may stop him still.

Sorry, I should have said. Yes he has been neutered.

Yes he is marking is territory, which goes in tandme with an obvious territory issue he is having with a neighbouring cat.

As suggested, if you neutralise is 'markings' he shouldn't re-spray, which he will if you leave them. Hopefully, once they have settled their differences, the need for marking will receede again.
