Tail Bone Pain
7 Answers
I have been getting quite bad pain around my tail bone for about two months now, I did see the Doctor at first, he stood me in front of him and pressed round the area, said that I had bruised it somehow and that it would get better on its own, I told him I hadn't done anything to hurt it and he said to use anti inflamertary gel (but didn't give me any) the pain is still there and sitting is most uncomfortable, do you think I should go back to the Doctor yet or give it more time?

I had this after sliding down a short flight of wooden stairs on my bum. I looked into treatment options at the time and there were 3. these were pain relief and patience, steroid injection, and manipulation. All three had about the same cure percentage so I opted for the least invasive. It took about four months to clear up completely. Taking the weight off your coccyx by sitting on a firmish cushion with a U shape cut out of the back was helpful to me, I made my own by buying a piece of firm foam from an upholsterers and cutting out a piece of it. Don’t use memory foam, use the kind called “orthopaedic” or max firm.
