Rover wheel nuts

I need to swap a wheel with the spare, on my mother in law's Rover 216.

It has alloys, and I have no problem with the locking wheel nuts. Unusually it is the others that stump me.

They appear to have a cosmetic shiny metal cover on them, which move slightly if wiggled. I can't see how to remove these. I have tried using the plastic device that takes the cover off the locking wheel nuts, but that doesn't work on these.

Do I just put the wheel brace over these and undo the nuts, or is there some clever way to get them off?

Why?
I'm just weird.
lol Nom : )

They are trims which you do not remove. Wheelbrace over them.
That should sort your nuts out.
Al... I just spilled my ... err... horlicks.
persevere with the plastic device, squeeze the sides in to prise it off, it will only work on the locking nut, then you need a decent fitting brace to remove the other nuts.

Thanks Al and Cazz. The plastic device works a treat on the locking nuts.

I'll get my nuts sorted tomorrow.

Now listen up, Wiseass.... I do have a horlicks mug. I haven't got a friggin clue where I've put it mind...
