My Spam Folder

I get as many as 100+ going into my email Spam folder, every day...some days even more ! Its the usual rubbish....Credit Cards, PPI stuff, etc.

But I notice that many of them are repeated...ie there are two identical entries.

Why does this happen ?

I sometimes get the same spam email from 3 or 4 apparently different senders. Whether there is someone who sells on emails and lists of victims I don't know. I have one email address I use just for family and key contacts and get no spam there, and others I use where I am less trusting of contacts- and I too get many, but nearer 10 a day than 100 in my main alternative account. I did open one for filling in a survey once and out of curiousity checked recently and am getting about 50 a day in that now.

Multiple sellers or senders maybe ? Boilerplate letter auto edited and sent out on many PCs, many maybe hijacked PCs. The spammers don't care if you get the "offer" umpteen times, in fact you might finally decide to look at one. Just as long as you get them.

I agree with O_G. Often the named senders won't even be aware that a spam email has come out pretending to be from them. I get some that appear to come from a genuine ebay address but are actually about something completely different.

Time to get a new email address or two!

I normally have 2 at any time. One for family and friends that I know have reasonably good security awareness.

The other ones for all the rest. Once I start getting too much spam then I'll ask that the email address be deactivated/closed and set up a new one.
