Don't buy anything with the brand name "Hoover". It'll be nothing but trouble. I once had a faulty dishwasher made by them and trying to get it repaired was a nightmare. Having bought it from a catalogue company, the latter would not issue a pick up authorisation until an "engineer" looked at it. In turn, the engineer would not sanction a repair until the "area manager" looked at it. The latter refused point blank to issue a pick up authorisation. We ended up scrapping the appliance and buying new. We vowed never to buy a Hoover product again.
Agree with 'bookend'. When we got married in 1966 we bought an actual Hoover vacuum cleaner, but after a few weeks it stopped working. Hoover repaired it under guarantee - but a few weeks later it stopped working again!
They refused to repair it a second time, implying it was something that we did to it, they also refused to give us our money back. I was a bit naive then and didn't take it any further, but from that day we vowed never to buy a Hooover product again.
That was fifty years ago and though my wife has now passed on, I'm proud to say that not once have I purchased any of their products since.
I think we did the right thing, I subscribe to the Which? magazine and it's surprising, or possibly not, that I've never seen so many items given a 'Don't buy' rating as the products manufactured by Hoover.
Sorry Caribeing, I've not recommended a vacuum cleaner to you, but I think that whatever you decide, please avoid the Hoover range.
