Gluten Free Flour/ Bread Recipe

I've bought some gluten free flour to make some bread, as it's so expensive to buy, but on the pack it gives every recipe - apart from bread! And thefew recipes I've looked up seemto have other flours added. Is there no regular recipes that I can use this flour??

Well that's very odd - I've followed the recipe to the letter and I've got a bowl of gloopy mess. No way can I shape it into anything- it's like soggy mashed potato.
Have you tried Dove's Farm gluten free bread flour?
When cooking a stew .. any combination of meat and veg. Add a couple of tablespoons of your flower to a bowl and throw everything into it and coat it with the flour.
This will thicken the stew .. and give you another use for your flour and dont forget the Knorr stock cube for taste.

Give it a go as they do all the balancing of the 'other' flours. It's readily available in most supermarkets, albeit probably the larger stores.

Ordinary gluten free flour is unsuitable for breadmaking because the gluten is needed to form the bread texture. Ditto pastry. I tried making it with gluten free flour and ended up with a mush of crumbs that would not hold together. The ingredient in Doves Farm gluten free bread flour which substitutes for the action of gluten is xanthan gum. You can also add it ingredients for gluten free pastry. Health food stores and supermarkets sell it. You should research before buying because it can cause allergies and you are advised not to to give it to young children. Guar gum is an alternative.
