I just made soup too!!! French onion soup made with lots of white wine for my husband. I had a glut of white onions and loads of dregs of white wine that I put in one big bottle. Lots of stock, balsamic vinegar sugar salt garlic and pepper and hey presto!! It's pretty good even if I don't say so myself!!!! :-)
Watercress and leek with a drizzle of truffle oil.

Celeriac and celery with a drizzle of truffle oil

Red pepper and fennel.......no truffle oil.

Delia's roast tomato with basil oil.

Roasted pumpkin, also from Delia.

Many more.......

Heinz.
Chicken broth with lots of barley and vegetables or split pea, lentil and ham.
A soup that I thought would be vile was surprisingly tasty, fennel, celeriac and orange, A bizarre combo but it does actually work!
My favourites are roasted tomato and red pepper, broccoli and Stilton, pea and ham, sweet potato with red lentil and coconut and cauliflower with almond.

sorry I couldn't reply,computer acting up.I made tomato,black eyed peas and pasta soup,was delicious,first time I tried this.
Carrot and Coriander would be my favourite. BUT I appear to be well-known for leek & potato, have made it for several village 'Do's' and seem to be condemned to it forever. Basically, I follow Delia's recipe, which you can look up - perhaps a touch of cream makes the difference.
