I keep seeing Eurovision 2017 trailers on the beeb surely with our imminent departure from the EU this outdated program is no longer of relevance to us. Time to call it a day and we should call it a day?

Anne-Marie David and Vicky Leandros both very good singers. The first winner in 1956 was Lys Assia for Switzerland!

Nicole,Corinne Hermes,Sandra Kim,Celine Dion etc etc
I don't think any decent singer or musician would go on that. Engelberg Humperdinck (sp?) didn't do too well.
^^^For UK, I meant.
No 'A' lister from the UK would touch the contest these days.
Let's be honest, we'd come nowhere even if Adele sang one of her finest and no other countries competed.
THe points are the least interesting thing about this entertainment !
Yes vortex I remember Vicky Leandros - "Apres Toi" - very good!
There have actually been a few good ones occasionally
Yes Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson came second as did Teddy's brother Bryan with Looking High.
In actual fact the UK have one on 5 occasions but has been runner up on no less than 15 occasions.
Doh! Won on 5 occasions.
Love Shine A Light was a great Eurovision song performed by a well known star. And the UK has rarely come close since because we continually pick anodyne forgettable dross chosen by people who probably don't even watch Eurovision. Although there are a lot of cringeworthy songs, generally the actual winner is a stand out entry.
