Tile coverings

I have been looking at changing the bathroom and would like to spruce up the tiles a little as they are all just plane white, I looked into tile paints, but there was too much in a tin, (I only want 2 or 3 tiles doing in 3 or 4 different colours!) then one of the lads at work said about really thin tiles that are made from metal that are coloured that you just glue over the original tile, does anyone know about these and if they are easy/look nice etc? failing that, i am going to have to take random ones out and replace them with new tiles!!

I used tile paint to cover horrid green ones. Used white and I did have to coat it a few times to look good. However, have you considered using the transfers you can just slide on? I purchased a few packs of 6 transfers, then put them randomly on the tiles, and what a difference they made!
They look just as if they are painted on. Another thing you could try are stencils, which you can choose from a variety at DIY stores = then choose the little pots of paint especially for them, and get to work decorating as few or as many as you like!

It is easy to replace random tiles just make sure that you buy exactly the right size there is a small difference between metric and imperial also different thickness, so take care. You can get ceremic paints from hobby shops which are quite good and can be used for various effects but some makes are less durable then others. Most tile paints are wipeable rather than scrubable!!
