Incoming email setting

Help, please!
Can anyone tell me why, when I receive an email, my incoming email (POP 3) setting changes to 127.0.0.1?
On the latter setting I receive no more mail until I change it back to what it should be. I am tired of constantly changing it and feel there must be an explanation as to what has gone wrong and whether it can be put right. Has anyone any ideas?

I suspect you are a lot more knowledgeable than I am (which would not be difficult!).
I have McAfee Security and have tried to check the settings on the SpamKiller element. But they seem OK.
It looks as if I am stuck with constantly altering the Incoming Mail setting. Thanks anyway for your interest.

Thank you, Hammer, that was interesting. I didn't know anyone else had experienced this problem. But I am now wondering if I have at last solved it! I have today received 5 emails and the incoming mail settings have so far not changed (and that is after disenabling virus scanning of emails - but leaving auto scanning "on"). So "fingers crossed" !
