My mattress has a dip in it from my *** sitting on the edge of it and no doubt sleeping on it. Turning it doesn't help. I'm so sick of mattresses I buy lasting 2-3 years tops. What's a really good type which won't dent?!

I changed to a foam matteress years ago - before they came into fashion.

I'll never go back to a sprung matteress.
About two years ago we bought a sprung mattress with a layer of foam on top. It’s turned every time I change the linen. Has divots! Will be interested to see the answers to your post.
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in has been at Premier Inns. They do sell them online but I don’t know how long they would last.
I rather like my tempur one.
me too OG and they are designed not to be turned or rotated
I second what Tuvok says, we have been married nearly 50 years and due to my aversion to sprung mattresses since a teenager dictated the choice. People using any of our beds have been known to ask why they sleep so well. Some 20 years or so ago we changed all of them to a very firm foam (not memory - I am certain I would not like a non-flat bed) called Frostex by some. It is a composite foam of, in effect, recycled foam but not really. The foam is around 70mm thick on a flat board (sheet material) and a couple of them are only 4cm thick. One excellent bonus is that they remain unchanged for decades and are cheap to begin with.
I believe Premier Inns use Hypnos beds, my eldest lad used to work for Hypnos on the delivery side.
Wish I could afford one.
I've always slept on a Dunlopillo latex mattress (no springs, no cheap foam, no memory foam) and would never have anything else. They are rather pricey because latex is a natural material .
Incidentally, Dunlopillo is the top-rated brand in Which? comparisons.
The best Best Buy from Which, with 79%, is Emma, Emma The Original.

The second BB, with 77%, is the Sealy Teramo 1400.

^^^my post refers to mattress brands and not to individual models of mattress.
I bought a memory foam one by accident- i hadn't liked the idea of them, but it is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, easily. I don't think they dent at all.
How the heck did you manage to buy one by accident Pixie?
Isn't the whole point of memory foam that it "remembers" your shape for a time and temporarily gives/dents to match it ?
My sister bought a memory foam mattress. She binned it shortly afterwards because it was so hot. Best sleep I have is in the Westin heavenly beds. I think they have some sort of topper.
I just ordered one from Amazon without trying it, lb. Very glad I did.

The dip was permanent, it didn't recover like memory foam is supposed to!
Were my suggestions of any help to you Scarlett?
I recently stayed in an Ibis hotel. Cheap budget hotel but the best nights sleep I've had in years. Maybe phone them and see what mattresses they use.

Ladybirder- yes thank you, I have had a look. I do think though that any standard mattress is not necessarily going to cope with my bulk (weight) and that is the main concern about it dipping. I may have to look for a really hard one.
