Has your lawn recovered from the summer dry spell yet? Ours is still very patchy and I wonder if it will come back eventually. Just needs a bit more time perhaps?

My neighbour has gone down the full "Monty DonTichHamil tonDimmock" route and watered, scarified, weedkillered , top dressed, reseeded and generally pimped up his lawn - he even has bits of string all round/over it with CDs hanging from them to scare off the birds who are eating his seed. It now looks fecking awful with big black patches all over. I have left...

I have left mine to its own devices for the last three months or so - actually mowed it yesterday to control the weeds a bit & it is now beginning to look OK again - in fact it looks far better than my neighbour's - he is not best pleased :)

You're right John, one of our neighbours cuts the lawn really low and it suffers badly every summer. This year though, we'd only given a high cut once or twice in April before the long dry months of May, June and July simply burnt every area of grass.
