Maybe we should ALL be doing this while sitting at our desks?

I already post while I'm driving.

Buen i think this is an amazing idea. It's something we could all try and do, do some more exercise for society and ourselfs.

I quite like the idea but I suspect that the cats who like to curl up on my lap wouldn't be too impressed if my knees were constantly going up and down ;-)
haha, well they could always try and perch on your shoulder instead ;)
It's nonsense......typical modern rubbish.

You either have physical exercise (gym) or you study (reading) you cannot concentrate on both at the same time.

Ruddy 'eck, Mamya!

I reckon that it would cost far more to feed those three guys than to pay for the electricity to run the computer ;-)
That crossed my mind too Buen, still they'd be handy for other jobs around the home as well.

I disagree, Sqad.

Whenever I was struggling with some really complex maths problems during my degree studies I found that I could do them all in my head while out running far more easily than when sitting at a desk at home.

I'm hoping that Gness doesn't see this thread, Mamya. Otherwise Dave might be in for a lot of pedalling ;-)
Buenchico.....we are all different.....some people more different than others, but generally speaking, if the blood supply is going to muscle (exercise) then it is being reduced in the brain (neuro-activity).........particularity i would have thought in children and teenagers.
Much better I would think to pause a lesson for a couple of minutes pedal power, a minute or two to recover then carry on. On the basis that regular breaks improve productivity.

Btw, I do some good thinking on the exercise bike and cats would definitely object
I do some of my best thinking when doing things like heavy gardening work. Sqad I am not sure about your blood to brain or body but not both theory. I would have thought that any activity that increases blood oxygen levels would assist the brain as well as the muscles...its not like competitive sport which requires focus and concentration.

Woofy.."I do some of my best thinking when doing things like heavy gardening work."

I would have thought that "thinking" and learning were two separate processes, but i may well be wrong.

Again, not being an expert but during exercise your blood oxygen levels fall and the relative anoxia stimulates the medulla to increase your heart rate and pulse rate to keep up the oxygen in your blood....
i.e it flogs itself to keep blood O2 acceptable.
That surely can't help the brain during the learning process...particularly in kids.
If I have trouble thinking of a crossword answer I visit the ty bach
Gness has seen this, Chris...and it's a brilliant idea! When I lived in Canada a school friend of my son could only watch TV by pedalling a bike somehow attached to the TV set.... :-)
I believe it's been introduced in some Old People's Homes, providing valuable exercise but with less stress on the limbs, and no danger of falling.
I don't know how much research has gone into it, but it seems gibberish to me. I'd find it too distracting. Better to have some relaxing background music, and take sufficient breaks to allow knowledge to sink in.
