What do they actually taste like before any dip is added to them? I know they are made from ground flour and then shaped and fried, but are they bland or what?

You can get plain ones and they are kind of blandy and maize-y

Best thing to do osprey,

Buy the plain nachos, make your own salsa and enjoy!!

Alternatively, spread nachos (plain) over ovenproof plate/baking tray, chop green and red chillies finely - sprinkle over nachos, then grate some cheddar and sprinkle this over too. Put under a hot grill till the cheese is just melting (and before nachos start to burn), take out and enjoy - especially with some home made salsa. Wonderful starter!!

osprey, there are the plain ones, and there are ones flavoured like 'southwestern ranch',or , 'nacho/cheese',or guacamole'...and on and on. "Doritos" is just a brand of corn chips, and can't be used to describe all corn tortilla chips. There are ones back home which are blue/black in colour,and red in colour...has to do with the colour of the corn used in the making of them...they taste just like the plain regular ones(honest). Get a bag and try em! I'm from the Southwest(Arizona) and recommend them highly!!!! Ta
