Then the 'strong evidence' gets overturned sometimes many years later. The notorious Hanratty case comes to mind. The Death Sentence DOES NOT deter murder. Very many murderers have said as much.//
Hanratty was deemed guilty as hell by an appeal court in 2002 when it was stated that new DNA proved beyond doubt he was guilty despite Police earlier (1998) conclusding he was wrongly convicted

In Ireland maybe, but not in other parts, it happens every Friday after prayers in Riyadh for example, - 72 since the start of the year, I read somewhere, but they are beheadings (even more photogenic).
Then of course there are the stonings which would make a tasty hors d'oeuvre, and would do well for the TV ratings.

AOG - // Since most of those threads or posts refer to the Pakistani child grooming gangs and the black on black killings, I and I am sure others take very much offence at you labelling those who show concern over their actions, "lazy stereotyping bigots". //
If you take offence, then the 'report' mechanism is there for your use.
And as in your post at 15:42 yesterday - // And please don't speak for "everyone concerned" ... //
The 'report' facility is there for them as well, and they don;t need you to speak for them.
And to save you the bother of posting your standard response, I am happy to remind you for the umpteenth time that I am subject to the Site Rules in exactly the same way as every other poster.

That's an interesting way of putting it.
Evans would not have stood trial today, but at the time, there was not the understanding of mental incapacity from which Evans suffered, which meant that he had little comprehension of what was going on when he was accused, and admitted his crimes.
But as history shows, a large plank of the prosecuting council evidence was provided by Christie who, although never convicted of the murders of Evans' wife and child, was still somewhat lacking as a reliable witness - especially one whose evidence saw an innocent man executed.
