Do you leave yours in the door once its locked!?

My Dad always said to keep it in the lock incase of a fire the keys were there...

However theres been alot of break-ins recently and you hear stories about locks being turned easily with a magnet if a key is in place!

My front door dosent have a key on the inside its just an internal lock like a hotel room and a chain. Might add on another bolt!?

Im really quite frightened by all these break ins and I live in a decent area....... they are rife at this time of year :0(

Need to look into an alarm system or a camera/ deterrent!

Not in external doors. Keys nowhere near where any fishing line can reach.
I also have a solid wooden front door that can only lock inside with a key (the type that you push the handle up before you turn the key to lock it). Always leave the keys in all night (it's nowhere near the letterbox).
That's fine Prudie, but how would anyone get in if there was an emergency?
How do emergency services get in whether there's a key in or not? I guess they'd smash a window or more likely the conservatory.
Having had an elderly neighbour who had an Age Concern emergency buzzer I would say never leave your key in the door. She fell one night and we spent ages fiddling around with screwdrivers etc to push the key out of the lock before we could get in to help her.
Until today I left the key in the lock but I forgot to lock the door last night so the new routine is lock the door and move the key so I know I’ve locked it - no one else in the house is bothered if the doors are locked or not.
