cardio - vascular exercise is best for all over weight loss, like cycling, running, aerobics etc.

As for food, just common sense, cut down on fatty and sugary foods and eat lots of fresh fruit and veg.  Weight watchers is a good healthy weight loss programme

without following the full Atkins regime, just cut down on the amount of bread, pasta and rice you are eating. Also drink as much water as your body can take!

milly1984 is from a group of people who probably cause part of the problem. Often people who are over weight or over eat suffer from low self esteem and comments such as that are NOT constructive or helpful. This is meant to be a serious message board where people can get help, not for people who have opinonated views to vent their feelings, please go and do it elsewhere.

I would suggest joining Weight Watchers.  They have a points system which means you are allowed a certain amount of points per day (calculated on your weight, how active your job is and your age), you can then eat whatever you like as long you stay within your points allowance and you can earn bonus points by exercising.  They are currently registering free and it costs 4.95 a week.

If you stick to it it really does work.  Trust me I know!  I've been going for 4 months and have lost two and a half stone so far!

Its flexible and easy to follow and you get support from the other people at the group.  Go to www.weightwatchers.co.uk to find out more about it but I really would recommend giving it a go.

Good Luck!!

I lost loads of weight simply by cutting out all eating in between meals. Cook all your meals from scratch so that they are 1) nicer and 2) you know what is in them! Avoid any processed food. Don't eat after 7pm at all, and have cups of tea and coffee (decaff!) if you get a bit twitchy for something! If your meals are nice, you honestly won't miss the crisps and rubbish!
just want to defend the true milly1984: there has been an issue with someone pretending to be her with a slight change to the name; this impostor has been posting all sorts of rubbish in her name and most of it has now been removed. I've just reported the answer on this question. the true milly is always most helpful and polite!
I have lost a stone in weight over the last 18 months.  You cant remove the link between lifestyle and weight so if you are unhappy with your weight what is it about your lifestyle thats causing this.  Could be work, relationships etc etc.  Then, tackle how you can amend this.  Keep a diary of your diet amd mood.  What makes you feel sluggish/ energetic etc. etc.  I find yoga very effective.  Yoga and walking.  They are both very relaxing too.  Walking listening to music.  I walk to work when I can.  Eating late at night should be avoided (eat before 7.30 if pos) and you know that old tip about taking the stairs instead of the lift is so TRUE.  Every bit does help, slowly over time it will fall off.  Patience is needed.  Also, a MUST is to drink 2 litres of water every day.  It really gets rid of cellulite.  If you think thats a lot...well its only 8-10 glasses throughout the day.  Keep the bottle near your desk.  Your skin will glow!  One last thing, ditch the scales, Ive never been a fan of that look at yourself naked in the mirror after a shower.  Moistourising your skin with lotion is a good way to get your body and its bumpy bits, overtime you will be able to see your progress.  Best of luck.
