I know about keeping them in the fridge makes the skin black but does it keep the flesh inside from deteriorating and going too soft and mushy?

Oh gawd - another gimmick from Lakeland - who has room in the fridge for that many bananas? In any case, when I buy bananas from the supermarket (every week) I'm just pleased if they're ripe enough to eat by the end of the week as they're always sold ridiculously under-ripe so you need to be ahead of the game.
We got our click and collect today and four of the eight bananas we received have gone in a plastic bag into the fridge. I’d get one of those banana bags but they’re out of stock :(
We shall see how they survive the fridge.
I stopped putting tomatoes in the fridge years ago, totally changes the texture and destroys the taste.
