My grandson thinks he's Margaret Thatcher and can manage nicely on 4 to 6 hours a night. The rest of the family can not and he has slight anxiety problems and doesnt like being awake on his own. He does like meditation but is a bit young to direct himself and won't accept my daughter's help.
There have been numerous posts re sleep and sleeping aids recently. Melatonin naturally helps balance circadian rhythm and jet lag etc. Only available on prescription in the UK. I was having problems waking frequently during the night and being unable to fall back to sleep for quite a while. I read lots of product reviews on Amazon ok re sleep aids and decided, sceptically, to try one with more positive than negative and opted for Neuro Night Relief, a mixture of herbs, vitamins and Montmorency Cherry which has naturally occurring melatonin. After 4/5 days I found that I had a deeper sleep and when I did wake it was only for 5 to 10 minutes and not an hour or more. Ladybirder has posted that she gets her melatonin from the Isle of Man. I have no commercial interest in the above. I do find that it helps me
roo power, snap. My 8 year old seems to think she can manage on about 6 hours sleep and has done for a while.
My remedies have been thus:
1) a bath before bed with J&J "go the F to sleep" bubble bath
2) deep sleep pillow spray by a company called "this works". It actually does work! and i'd recommend it for the op too
3) a realisation that perhaps some people do in fact need less sleep than me. She tends to do a run of a few hours a night then her body catches up and she does a big sleep
4) i let her have an alexa in her room, so that if she's awake she can listen to music or a story (without coming in to wake me up!)

Yes, piggy, grandsons get lots of excercise and love being outside. Tried weighted blankets too, for both of them. They love the blankets but they don't really help. Grandson can listen to music, books etc but it's having another human awake that he seems to need. I'm not sure if they've tried a pillow spray - could be next on the ever growing list! Thank you all for your suggestions.
