Risk of disease spread isn't the reason why I think some people are getting upset about the coverage but I take your point.

If we were to only let out of lockdown as many couple+waiter groups as there are TV crews in ICU's then that comparison would make sense but we have to give the whole population the chance to go to restaurants at once and that causes much more mingling than just the 'meal' bit of the evening which agreed is probably the safest part.
