I just saw this on the news.
The accused “is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving while uninsured, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, and failure to report a collision.”
"Goodness knows how many more are driving around Birmingham without insurance"
Dunno about Brum but I think one of the cop shows gave an estimate of 1 million uninsured drivers in the UK. And that was probably 4 or 5 years ago. And uninsured drivers are more likely to be offending in other ways & more likely to be involved in accidents.
If they are not insured & get clocked by the police a certain number will try to make off and the resultant car chase could end in a tragic accident (not saying this happened in this case).
In fact if they drive so recklessly as to be a serious danger to the public the cops will abandon the pursuit and let them go. If that's not an encouragement to go nuts I don't know what is.
20.38,What has "no insurance" or tax got to do with this case Grumpy , this is a tragic loss of a young life and no amount of insurance payout can console the grieving young parents, you are talking as if , had the driver been insured and taxed the accident wouldn't have happened.
