In the good old days of the original common market bill
Lord Denning for it was he, was diverted into these honours and likened them to arrows being fired from a bow ( er 1970)

Dr Rick Jolly was decorated by the argies ( only one) for sticking back to gether argies ( see red and green life machine by er rick jolly).
The union of the kingdoms provided opportunity for honour ya-ya. The scots parliament was unicameral ( one house for all silly!) and the lords were peers of scortland
After the union the Kingdom was called Great Britain and the union of parliaments, the peers were of Great Britain and the scots peers voted a quota to the London Lords.
Then in 1801, that elective system ended and The Irish Lords had elections which survived to 1922 - the last elective Irish peer was aged 16 for obvious reasons.
so.... what about Lord Castlereagh ( or wellington for that matter ) - and Lord Londonderry ( same fella for those of you that have history O level) - peerage of the united kingdom and not ireland
and Lord Longford - another Irish Peer ? ( baron in the united kingdom)
