I don't assume they're black - and I've not seen anyone else make that assumption - but I would take an educated guess and say they're Muslim.

Yes, it was PC and his age is irrelevant. The guard gave his reason for failing to check out the suspect. He was afraid it would be deemed racist.

That makes no sense, Ken. Had the guard been naïve he wouldn't have had his suspicions. The fact that he did and the fact that he declined to do anything about it lest he be accused of racism would indicate that naivety wasn't his problem.

A more experienced security guard may have challenged the bomber, Naomi, is what i'm really saying. Which goes back to my earlier point of a shortage of staff, particularly ones qualified to properly carry out search procedures. This guy changed his statement quite a few times and didn't seem confident in himself.
As for my earlier post re searching shoppers in Belfast, we didn't have a choice who to stop. Everyone who wished to enter the precinct was searched, including kids.
