As he was recognisably a Postie, it was likely the damage to Royal Mail's reputation that was the misconduct. In Royal Mail's 2019 "Our Business Standards An Employee's Guide" it states, "Behaviour Behaviour which damages service to customers, our reputation or efficiency is unacceptable"

I didn't say I can't.
I disagree with you on many things but wouldn't have thought this would make the list.

Carry on digging eh, jno.
I would expect a postie to be polite and respectful to customers. Much the same as anybody who provides a public service. Refusing to help a customer who has fallen is neither. There were plenty of ways to help. I certainly think he should be sacked for letting the Royal Mail down. Sometimes Jno, I think you enjoy being awkward just for the sake of it!
Jno, he's clearly a callous ****, but you're right there's no law against that. What you're missing though is that he was on duty at the time, which clearly makes his employer look bad.

..and offering pathetic mitigations for why he might have acted as he did, does make you an apologist.
What if it had been a more rural area, no nearby neighbours, and there wasn't a friendly Hermes driver in the vicinity?
For goodness sakes...don't the words elderly, frail, snow, and bitter cold add up to a situation that could have ended far worse?
What has happened to empathy, considering the consequences of ones actions? This man is a poor representative of the company he works for...and a poor excuse for a human being.
I wonder if his relatives are getting abuse for his lack of action?

Anyhow, being sacked is the right outcome.

Common human decency should make the assistance of a frail old lady in distress an automatic response. He lacks the former, and also now lacks employment.
Jno, you’ve excelled yourself tonight… but not in a good way.

Just what did happen to common decency?

It probably disappeared to make way for some wind up posts.
