What does it signify?

Can someone please tell me what the following piece of jewellery signifies: a pair of hands (clasped together as in prayer) with a cross at the base.

its called a claddah, quite famous in Ireland. I think. if its a ring it depends on which way round it's worn to signify if you are in a relationship or not.

I do Not think it is a Claddagh ring as that two hands clasped in prayer on a cross. A Claddagh is two hands holding a heart with a crown on it. I hope you find out what it is.:-D

The praying hands are very common and are taken from the engraving by Durer.
