Have you ever followed a recipe from a book, online etc., for it to go wrong?

I followed a cupcake recipe from a book and I think the measurements were wrong. It said 85g butter, 100g sugar, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp milk and then 225g self-raising flour and 55g cocoa powder. I thought the 225g of flour was way too much. Anyway, they've turned out more like flippin rock cakes than cupcakes! Arrgghh
